Find wonder on Cape Breton Island. Home to the largest salt lake in Nova Scotia, the Bras d’Or offers excellent fishing opportunities from shore, from boat, and with spinning gear. Rivers on the western side of the island offer tremendous trout fishing from mid-April to the end of September, and some of the best Atlantic Salmon fishing in the province from June through October. If that isn’t enough of a lure, experience awe-inspiring hikes and coastal drives along the Cabot Trail, especially during the first week of October, as the fall colours light up the highlands. If you’re lucky, you’ll join a toe-tapping ceilidh or kitchen party.
