Comfortably situated between Pictou and Tatamagouche, River John can be accessed via the Sunrise Trail - a winding road that hugs the north shore and is renowned by tourists and locals alike as a quintessential maritime road trip. This river is well known for its Brook and Brown Trout fishing, as well as Striped Bass in the harbour. Within driving distance, you can also access a number of other popular river systems along the north shore, including Waughs, Wallace, Pugwash and River Phillip.
