John Gavin

Caption John Gavin is a second-generation commercial fisherman and co-owner of Giant Bluefin Tuna Charters, an award-winning charter fishing business he operates with his wife Chandra Gavin. Capt. John has been entrenched in the development of the bluefin tuna charter fishery since its inception in 2010 and has done various stage presentations about bluefin tuna fishing. John volunteers consistently on various industry boards and has traveled around the world attending international sportfishing shows and events while also exploring sportfishing in various exotic locations. Along with Chandra and his daughter Jenna they have accumulated three IGFA World Records for giant bluefin tuna. Capt. John has over 30 years experience fishing full time, over 25 of those as captain of his own vessel. His charter company also offers a variety of other at-sea experiences, with the goal of offering tourists a peek inside the life of a traditional maritime family.
